Sri Varaha Lakshmi Nrusimha Swamy (S.V.L.N.S.) Government Degree College, Bheemunipatnam, established in 1984, was founded with the noble vision of empowering the youth of this backward and coastal region of Visakhapatnam through quality higher education. Situated on the serene sea-shore and inspired by the divine presence of Sri Varaha Lakshmi Nrusimha Swamy, our college proudly bears a logo depicting the deity along with the sacred words “Aachaaryah Poorva Roopam – Antevaasyuttara Roopam” from the Taittiriya Upanishad, signifying the eternal bond between teacher and student.

From its humble beginnings with one Arts and one Commerce group, the institution has steadily grown in strength and academic diversity. The introduction of the B.Sc. (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry) programme in 2009 and the B.Sc. (Botany, Zoology, Chemistry) programme in 2013 marked important milestones in expanding science education in the region. The college earned NAAC accreditation with a ‘B’ Grade in 2023, reaffirming its commitment to quality and excellence.

Continuing this trajectory of progress, the college introduced B.Com (Computer Applications) and B.A. (Tourism and Travel Management) in 2020–21, followed by B.Sc. (Computer Science) in 2022–23.

In the forth coming academic year 2025–26, we are proud to launch several honours programmes: B.A. (History), B.A. (Political Science), B.Com (Computer Applications), B.Com (General), and B.Sc. Honours in Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Zoology, and Mathematics.

Our continuous academic expansion reflects our unwavering dedication to providing contemporary, relevant, and holistic education. As we move forward, we remain committed to nurturing knowledgeable, responsible, and socially conscious graduates who will contribute meaningfully to society.
